Slow Motion with Kiwibit 2 Mini and Kiwibit 2 Pro – Kiwibit

Slow Motion helps you capture the fleeting movements of visiting birds more clearly. Whether it is a wing flap, takeoff, landing, or a subtle movement while feeding, you can slow down playback to notice details that are easy to miss in real time.

Slow Motion is currently only available on Kiwibit 2 Mini and Kiwibit 2 Pro.

What Is Slow Motion?

Slow Motion is a high-frame-rate recording feature. When enabled, your device records videos at a higher frame rate, making fast movements appear clearer and smoother during playback.

Both Kiwibit 2 Mini and Kiwibit 2 Pro support Slow Motion:

Records videos at 60 fps.
Supports 1×, 1/2×, and 1/4× playback speeds.
Supports downloading videos at the selected playback speed.

Kiwibit 2 Pro also supports Ultra Slow Motion:

Records videos at 120 fps.
Supports 1×, 1/2×, 1/4×, and 1/8× playback speeds.
Supports downloading videos at the selected playback speed.
Helps you view faster movements, such as wing flaps and takeoffs, in greater detail.

How to Turn On Slow Motion

Open the Kiwibit app. On the Live page (or Home, depending on your app version), find your device’s Live View thumbnail, tap the gear icon in its bottom-right corner, then go to Device Setting > Video Settings > Recording Quality.
Select a recording mode for your device:
1. Kiwibit 2 Mini: Select Slow Motion.
2. Kiwibit 2 Pro: Select Slow Motion or Ultra Slow Motion.
Please note: When you enable a slow-motion recording mode, HDR will be turned off automatically and your device will consume more power.

How to Find Slow-Motion Videos

After you enable Slow Motion or Ultra Slow Motion, the related recordings will appear on the Library page.

Go to Live (or Home) > View Library. You can also access Library from the Account page.
Look for recordings labeled Slow Motion or Ultra Slow Motion.
You can also filter slow-motion recordings: on the Library page, open Filter > Others > Slow Motion or Ultra Slow Motion > Confirm.

How to Watch Slow-Motion Videos

Open a recording labeled Slow Motion or Ultra Slow Motion, then select a playback speed in the video player.

Videos recorded in Slow Motion support:

1×: Play at normal speed.
1/2×: Watch at half speed.
1/4×: View fast bird movements at a slower speed.

Videos recorded in Ultra Slow Motion also support:

1/8×: View details such as wing flaps, takeoffs, or feeding movements at an even slower speed.

How to Download Slow-Motion Videos

Select your preferred playback speed in the video player, then use the download option to save the video.

The downloaded video will play at the speed you selected. For example, you can save the same video at 1×, 1/2×, or 1/4×. Videos recorded in Ultra Slow Motion can also be saved at 1/8×.

Before You Use Slow Motion

When you select Slow Motion or Ultra Slow Motion, HDR will be turned off automatically.
Slow-motion recording consumes more power. Please keep an eye on your device’s battery level.
Ultra Slow Motion is available only on Kiwibit 2 Pro.
If you prefer HDR image quality, select another recording mode under Recording Quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I find Slow Motion in the app?

Please make sure you are using Kiwibit 2 Mini or Kiwibit 2 Pro, then go to Device Setting > Video Settings >Recording Quality to check the available recording modes.

Kiwibit 2 Mini supports Slow Motion. Kiwibit 2 Pro supports both Slow Motion and Ultra Slow Motion.

What is the difference between Slow Motion and Ultra Slow Motion?

Slow Motion records videos at 60 fps and supports 1×, 1/2×, and 1/4× playback speeds.

Ultra Slow Motion records videos at 120 fps. In addition to the playback speeds above, it also supports 1/8× playback for a closer look at fast movements.

Why does slow-motion recording consume more power?

Slow-motion modes record more frames at a higher frame rate, so they consume more power than regular recording.

Can I download videos at different speeds?

Yes. Before downloading, select your preferred playback speed to save different speed versions of the video.
