Before you start sharing your Kiwibit device with others, here are two key things to understand about your account and access:
- Single Mobile Device Login: For account security, your Kiwibit account can only be active on one mobile device (e.g., your phone or tablet) at a time. Logging into a new device will automatically log you out of the previous one.
- Kiwibit Device Ownership: Once you add a Kiwibit device to your account, it’s tied to that account. If someone else adds it to their account, it will be removed from yours, and you’ll lose access.
These rules highlight why the Device Sharing feature is the simplest and safest way to give others access to your camera.
How to Share Your Kiwibit Device
For the Device Owner
- Open the Kiwibit App on your phone.
- On the Home screen, find the camera you want to share and tap the gear Settings icon on the right.
- Locate and tap 'Share'.
- Tap 'Shared Access' to generate a unique QR code.

Share the QR code with the person you're inviting:
- If they're nearby, let them scan the QR code directly from your phone.
- If they're not with you, If they're not with you, take a screenshot of the QR code and share the image with them.
- Once they send a request after scanning the code, approve it to grant them access.
For the Invitee (Shared User)
- Download the Kiwibit app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app and follow the instructions to register a new account.

After signing in, go to the scan page by doing one of these:
- Tap 'Add Shared Device from Another Account' on the app home screen.
- Tap the '+' icon in the top-right corner, then select 'Add Shared Device'.
- Go to the 'Account' page and select 'Add Shared Device'.

Scan the QR code provided by the device owner:
- If you're with the owner, scan the QR code directly from their phone.
- If they sent you the QR code image, choose the image from your photo library to scan it.
- Wait for the owner to approve your request.
- Once approved, you'll see the camera feed right on your home screen!
What Can Shared Users Do?
Shared users can:
- View the live feed.
- Receive motion detection notifications.
- Access snapshots or recordings of motion events.
Note: Shared users currently cannot modify camera settings.
How to Stop Sharing a Device?
For the Device Owner
- Open the Kiwibit App.
- Tap the gear Settings icon on the right.
- Locate and tap 'Share'.
- Swipe left on the shared user's account (email address) and tap 'Delete'.
For the Invitee (Shared User)
- Open the Kiwibit App.
- Tap the gear Settings icon on the right.
- Locate and tap 'Remove Camera' to remove your access.
