With the Kiwibit Enhancement plan, package detection is one of the advanced features included. This user guide will explore what package detection is, provide tips for the best practice, and explain why some packages may not be detected.
What is Package Detection?
Package Detection is a paid feature designed with our advanced AI technology to detect and send alerts associated with your packages. To enable this feature:
-
Tap Camera Setting.
-
Tap Notification Settings.
-
Toggle on Package under Classification.
-
Review the three different types of Package Detection notifications and select the one that best fits your needs under Package. The notification will come in either one of the following three types:
-
A new package seems to be delivered.
-
A package seems to be taken away.
-
A package is delivered.
-
After that, whenever a package is delivered or picked up, you'll get a notification. In addition, a package tag will appear next to package-detected recordings in the Activity tab of your Kiwibit app, making it easy to find and review these events in your video history.
How to Achieve the Best Package Detection?
-
Optimize camera position and angle: Focus on a small and clear area with your Kiwibit camera. For the best result, it is recommended to install it at a height of no more than 8 feet and tilt it down to cover the usual package delivery area. Make sure the camera's view isn't blocked.
-
Keep within detection range: The Package Detection is efficient within the range of 10 feet. Make sure the usual package delivery area is not out of your Kiwibit camera's Package Detection range.
-
Ensure adequate lighting: Ensure the usual package delivery area has enough light, day and night.
-
Consider minimum package size for detection: For effective detection, the minimum size of the package is 8x10x1 inches. Packages smaller than this size may be difficult to detect for Kiwibit cameras.
-
Set the Activity Zone accurately: You may consider setting an Activity Zone (paid feature) to cover the usual package delivery area to minimize false alerts.
Why Sometimes a Package is NOT Detected?
Package Detection relies on continually evolving algorithms and extensive data analysis, but certain factors may still affect its performance:
-
Low lighting and shadow interference: Detection rates can drop at night or in poorly lit areas. Additionally, shadows at night can impact detection reliability.
-
Irregular package shapes: Unusual shapes may lower detection accuracy.
-
Packages placed at an improper distance: Packages that are too close or too far from your camera may be less detectable.
-
Long-stay packages: Packages left in the detection area for extended periods may become harder to detect, so it's best to take them away shortly after notification.
